While teaching is an essential part of our jobs as academics, it is often seen as secondary to research. At the same time, the importance of teaching is set to rise if the Teaching Excellence Framework gets implemented. Moreover, students count on us to provide them with the necessary skills they need to thrive in the job market, not just today, but also in 10 years’ time.

We think this is an excellent time to have a panel on teaching IS. Questions to discuss could include:

  • What should we teach our students? How should IS curricula change in the future?
  • How should we teach? What makes for high quality teaching, and how can we become better at teaching as individuals and institutions?
  • Why should we teach? As junior researchers, how will teaching achievements support our careers? How do we balance them against publications?
